Laura Gafnea

Director of Community Relations

As Director of Community Relations, Laura Gafnea works to foster connections between Oxford College and the broader community, including government agencies, businesses, non-profit organizations, educational entities, community leaders, and local residents.

Prior to joining the Oxford College staff, Laura served as assistant director of foundation relations in the University of Georgia (UGA) Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations. In prior roles she was a Georgia 4-H faculty member and an admissions counselor in the UGA Office of Undergraduate Admissions. 

Laura is actively involved in the Covington Kiwanis Club and serves on the boards of Newton County Tomorrow, the Arts Association in Newton County, the Newton Education Foundation, and the Discover Covington tourism board. She serves as immediate past chair of the Leadership Newton County program. She is a 2019 graduate of Leadership Newton County. Laura and her husband Trey live in Oxford with their son, Robert.
