Lauren Braun earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Valdosta State University, Master's in Liberal Studies from Duke University, and a PhD in College Student Affairs & Administration from the University of Georgia.
With 20 years working in higher education, Lauren has a passion working with undegraduate students.
Prior to joining the Oxford community, Lauren served as assistant director for academic advising in the Office for Undergraduate Education (OUE). During her time at the OUE, Lauren worked with the OUE deans, various campus partners, and hired/trained the OUE graduate assistant advising staff. She monitored students of concern, and has trained staff on various college policies and procedures. In addition to working with emory's undergraduate students, she helped to advise first year students, new transfer students and all students interested in the Dual Degree Program with the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Prior to joining the OUE, Lauren held positions at Valdosta State University (advising international students) and at Duke University (various roles). Throughout her career, Lauren has been advising students.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys cooking, catching up on her favorite shows (especially now that she's done with her doctorate), and being outside. Lauren used to participate in many distance races, and she enjoys running whenever possible. In fact, students might see Lauren running the track or the Oxford trail. She is also a huge animal lover (her family has a farm in South, GA), and she is always happy to show off pictures of her Yellow Lab named Duke (whenever appropriate students may see Duke on campus!). She also loves her family and spends downtime with her husband Gavin and her son Barrett (aka "Bear").
