Michele Hempfling

Director of Residential Education and Services

Michele Hempfling serves as the Associate Dean of Campus Life and Director of Residential Education & Services. She oversees the residence life program including staffing, training and managing the residence hall facilities and serves as the chief conduct officer for the College. Dr. Hempfling is a product of a liberal arts education (Muskingum University, Ohio) and is certain this foundation set the stage for her to succeed in a master’s program at Loyola University Chicago and then a doctoral program at Ohio University.

Prior to joining the Oxford College community in August of 2010, Dr. Hempfling served at Ashland University in Ohio as the inaugural Director of Community Service before transitioning to the Director of Residence Life. After serving as the Director of Residence Life for 2 years, a reorganization of her division added the responsibility of Greek Affairs to her role. During her time at Ashland University, Dr. Hempfling was named the University Staff Member of the Year and the Interfraternity & Panhellenic Councils’ Outstanding Staff Member of the Year.  Her dedication to student engagement and support continues as she recently received Emory University’s Ally of the Year award from the LGBT Office for her work with the Safe Space program at Oxford.
