Michele Hempfling

Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Projects

Michele Hempfling serves as the Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Projects. Prior to serving in this role, Dr. Hempfling was the Director of Community Engaged Learning & Internships supporting experiential learning initiatives. She also served as the Associate Dean of Campus Life and Director of Residential Education & Services for 11 years. She oversaw the residence life program including staffing, training and managing the residence hall facilities and served as the chief conduct officer for the College. Dr. Hempfling is a product of a liberal arts education (Muskingum University, Ohio) and is certain this foundation set the stage for her to succeed in a master’s program at Loyola University Chicago and then a doctoral program at Ohio University. 

Prior to joining the Oxford College community in August of 2010, Dr. Hempfling served at Ashland University in Ohio as the inaugural Director of Community Service before transitioning to the Director of Residence Life. After serving as the Director of Residence Life for 2 years, a reorganization of her division added the responsibility of Greek Affairs to her role. During her time at Ashland University, Dr. Hempfling was named the University Staff Member of the Year and the Interfraternity & Panhellenic Councils' Outstanding Staff Member of the Year.
