Rachel Harmon is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at Oxford College of Emory University. She earned her PhD and MA from Emory, and also holds MA and BS degrees from Middle Tennessee State University. Harmon is proud to be a first-generation college graduate. Her research focuses on political violence, human trafficking, and gender. She is especially interested in how international institutions, states, and organiztions can respond to human trafficking in ways that center and empower survivors. As an autistic individual herself, Harmon is passionate about developing resources that celebrate and affirm autistic and other disabled students. Harmon is the faculty advisor to Oxford's Autism Advocacy Organization, faculty advisor to a human rights organization, the co-chair of Emory's Autism Celebration Committee, serves on the Emory Oaks Implementation Committee, and advises the Georgia College Transition Partnership. She has previously taught as an adjunct in the Georgia state prison system, at Georgia Gwinnett College, and at MSTU. Harmon is the founder and Director of the EverWell International Scholarship, an organization that provides scholarships and academic support to survivors of human trafficking.
